Last fall, Sberbank announced its intention to obtain the right to launch its own blockchain platform from the Central Bank of Russia. It will be used by the bank and its partners to deploy steblecoins.
In the middle of this week it became known that the Russian regulator included Sberbank in the register of operators of information systems involved in the management of digital assets.
As RBC specifies with reference to the top manager of “Sber” Sergey Popov, it will be possible to issue tokens and make transactions with such instruments on the blockchain of the state bank. Legal entities will be able to use this platform, all transactions with digital assets will meet the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation.
As a reminder, Sberbank has been interested in blockchain technologies for the past few years.
In December 2021, the first exchange-traded fund focused on blockchain assets from the state bank appeared on the Russian stock market under the ticker SBBE.
